Downtime: it's time to regroup

Guys, We've had to take VReel offline - we've a huge amount of things to do over the next while, and just can't have anyone on the site while we're doing it.

Our frontpage will soon be replaced, giving new and returning users the general gist of what's going on.

First off: Videos have been slowing to a halt throughout the course of the day. Unfortunately, due to the assault on VReel by leech websites, we've determined that the only course of action we can take at this moment in time is to disable video streaming entirely. Leechers cost us tens of thousands of dollars per day - as the most popular HD user-generated video portal online, we spit out more traffic daily on embeds than most would bring in from direct views over a week.

The cash being taken from us by embedders is what needs to go into building VReel into the best video website we can possibly offer. The only course of action we can possibly take to ensure that this funding goes back into making VReel the best video portal we can provide - rather than to the attackers, is to completely shut down video streaming while we continue development.

We're planning on having our new embed system live and kicking for the launch of Beta V2, along with a massive range of new features - Including but not limited to:

h.264 support
Image and Audio upload support
The launch of our long awaited "Community" system
Up to a massive 8gb video upload size

and a lot more.

We're going to have this pushed out in the fastest time possible - we'll be working around the clock to get this out the door. Forums and Chat will remain online while we work - and a staff member will be more than happy to talk to you about what's coming around the corner.
