Q&A Session

Q: Will [Vreel] have the video database that Stage6 used to have?

A: No, Vreel is simply using the DivX codec & webplayer in order to provide the public with a free, High Definition video-streaming website. We have no official Affiliation with the DivX corperation, or the Stage6 platform. Our Video database will be built from the ground up from day one onwards. And once again, we'd like to express our thanks to DivX for allowing us to use their codec and webplayer for this platform.

Q: What will be the Max filesize limit on uploaded videos?

A: At launch, the filesize limit will be set to 800mb, in order to test the waters. This may be raised (or lowered!) over the upcoming months. Ideally, we'd like to see the limit reach 1GB before our third month.
--
Q: Will [Vreel] require a paid registration?

A: No, we do not intend on charging for any of our services. No registration will be required for viewing videos, although a free account will be required to upload, comment, and share movies.
--
Q: Where are the servers based?

A: All of our servers are currently based in America. However, videos have been stress tested from most locations in europe, with users on a 2meg line being able to watch video content without any significant wait, or buffer time. Plans are currently in place to set up European servers over the upcoming launch months.
--
Q: Will you offer a download service?

A: A download system is in place, but this will not be active on day 1. Our first few days will be all about testing server strenght and bandwidth consumption. Video Downloads will be made available as soon as possible.
--
Q: Why was the launch delayed until May 6th?

A: Our lead programmer had a family emergency, which required him to take a leave of absence. Over this time, we continued to develop on the design and layout of Vreel, and we believe that this extra time will benefit the end user in the long run. We promise it'll be worth the wait.
--
Q: Any suprises in store?

A: Yep. Stay tuned for the launch, there's a lot more to come.
